LHU strengthens international academic collaboration with ASU expert

On June 18, 2026, LHU had the honor of welcoming and holding a formal working session with Dr. Patrick E. Phelan, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Arizona State University (ASU). The event featured a series of in-depth academic activities, attracting significant interest from the University’s leadership, faculty members, and students in technology-related disciplines.

Representing LHU at the event was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector, together with representatives from various  faculties and offices, including the Office of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics, and the Faculty of Information Technology. The partner delegation included Dr. Patrick E. Phelan, along with representatives from ASU and Cintana Education.

Dr. Patrick E. Phelan engaged in discussions with LHU’s Board of Rectors, faculty leaders, and lecturers on educational strategies, scientific research directions, and opportunities for international collaboration

During the morning working session, the two sides discussed strategic approaches to integrating AI into teaching and research. They also shared a common vision of developing advanced academic programs aligned with the standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with a focus on key disciplines such as mechatronics, information technology, automation, robotics, and other emerging technologies. This partnership is expected to further further promote innovation and the exchange of international knowledge and expertise.

Following the working session, the seminar entitled “Future of AI & Engineering” was held at Hall A2, Lac Hong Bilingual School, with the participation of the University’s leadership, lecturers, and students from the Faculties of Mechatronics and Electronics, Information Technology, and Civil Engineering. During the seminar, Dr. Phelan shared valuable insights into emerging AI trends in the engineering and industrial sectors, as well as their broader impact on higher education, scientific research, and innovation.

Through practical examples and international experience, the speaker provided attendees with a comprehensive perspective on the transformation of the labor market in the digital era, while emphasizing the role of innovative thinking, research capabilities, and technological adaptability for the next generation of engineers.
